About Our Offley Hoo Rare Breed Pork

We only keep traditional rare breed pigs, which are kept outdoors in large enclosures with wooden arks. Our pigs live the good life that every pig should have. This extensive free range lifestyle builds muscle and adds flavour to the pork.

We feed home grown rations and offer complete traceability, we can tell you exactly how each and every pig was bred.

Our MIDDLE WHITE (MW) sows are so rare the breed is on the at-risk register. In order to get the right size, flavour and fat content for our customers we cross breed these sows with other breeds: currently we have a Large White and a Pietrain boar.

We sell our pork as boxes of pork with sausages— as a quarter, half or whole pig. In the future we hope to be able offer the whole hog ready to use at a pig roast, more details on that in due course.

Rare breed pork is slightly darker in colour than supermarket pork, and it has to be said it is also fatter than what a modern consumer is used to but you will not be disappointed by the tender texture and wonderful flavour of the meat and the outstanding crackling. Middle White pork is rated as the King of Pork by many celebrity chefs including Anthony Worrall-Thompson. However, we believe that our Middle White and Tamworth sows produce cross-bred pigs which taste every bit as good as a pure bred animal.

Pork is sold on carcass weight and the size depends on the breed available at the time of order:

Whole carcass approx 40 - 65 kgs, @£6.50/kg  [the WHOLE PIG butchered to your specifications, to see examples please see half and quarter pig below]

Half pig approx 20 - 33 kgs, @£6.80/kg  [one shoulder to roast, either whole or cut in half, one leg to roast either whole or cut in half, belly (either as a 2 – 3 roasts and/or cut as spare ribs), loin either as a 1 or 2 roasting joints  and/or cut as chops, liver, kidney and two trotters, and bones].

Quarter pig approx 9 - 16 kgs @£7.30/ kg   [half a shoulder roast, half a leg roast, half the belly (either as a roast or spare ribs), half the loin either as a roasting joint or cut as chops, liver, and one trotter and bones].

ALL BOXES come with the finest quality sausages.

We can also offer a WHOLE HOG for roasting please ask for further details.

7 days notice will be given to each local customer regarding collection on a named weekday from 4 – 6pm or for those further afield it can be sent via next day delivery in specially insulated and chilled boxes for an additional charge of £22.00. +VAT for a half pig and £20.00 +VAT for a quarter pig.
