The day was a fantastic success, we counted 1400 visitors. Thanks so very much to all our staff and volunteers - it really is a major team effort.
Results, feedback and pictures are on the blog with more to follow. We will add more as they come in. Please put next year's date in your diary: Sunday 12th June 2011
Here are some of the comments we have received by email:
We all had such a great time at
your open day, the demonstrations were all so interesting especially the butter
making, I’m planning to make my own little pat of butter later this week!!!
Everyone said that they would all like to come again next year.
My freezer is broken at the moment
but when it gets fixed a friend and I will share a box of meat, we
have to decide on lamb, beef or pork - an impossibly difficult decision!!!!
I'd like
to thank you for a great day my family had at your Open Farm Sunday event. Our
favourite part was the tractor and trailer ride to see the pigs, they are
so lucky to live in such a beautiful setting. The children enjoyed
going up and down the hill on the trailer. Looking forward to next
year already. Has Ruby had her piglets yet?
We had a lovely afternoon at your open day and
were really impressed with the range of activities available. I was also
viewing the visit with a professional hat - I am teacher in Hitchin. Please
could you send me a teacher pack.
Thanks for a
nice afternoon with the family at your open day today. It's the first
time we've been to Offley and thought it was a very nice village. It
was nice to see some Middle White pigs in the local area as well.
and here are some from the Open Farm Sunday Website: We attended event at Offley Hoo Farm, Hitchin, Herts. Event was very
well organised, with plenty to do. Particularly enjoyed the guided farm
walk.
Go here to read about the many experiences of the day. And here for more pictures. Offley Hoo pictures are on there, but quite a long way down the page.
